-DMP Soundscape Draft-
Many of our sounds are actually going to be created live as we plan to use kitchen tools and our bodies to create sounds. The goal with this is that as we are making our cookies (playing with the idea of "BYU cookie cutter"), the sounds will go from uniform to more chaotic and unique. On top of this, however, we do intend on creating a soundscape of the social media notification sounds to be used at a very specific moment of the performance (as we showed in class) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdPBf9KvFFw , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsyUolZgINM , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXYzDX-2o74). We hope that the sounds will further emphasize and/or suggest the role of social media in relationships.
We are also gathering songs from everyone that we are considering playing in the background at times. We have talked about the songs representing the relationships we have here at BYU in order to musically show the range and depth of experiences everyone has. My song, for example, would be "Drive it Like You Stole It" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNtaO6mdy44).
Finally, we hope to make silence a powerful tool in our performance. Specifically, we want to utilize silence to signify a shift in our stories as we begin to portray a more positive side of friendships, roommates, and romantic relationships.
